Description

Tucked behind olive groves just one mile from the historic heart of Uzès, Olivette is a secluded walled estate where Provençal charm meets modern refinement. This sophisticated five-bedroom property features a spacious main residence and an independent guesthouse (gîte), thoughtfully designed for comfort, elegance, and connection.

Estate Overview
Built in 2010 and spanning two-thirds of an acre (2,695 m²), Olivette offers approximately 3,700 square feet (340 m²) of interior space. Crafted from locally quarried limestone—pierre de Vers, the same used in the Roman Pont du Gard—the home celebrates regional materials and timeless craftsmanship. On Instagram @olivette_france

The Main House unfolds across two levels:
On the upper floor:
• Central gathering spaces including a contemporary chef’s kitchen with bar seating, open-plan dining and lounge areas, a TV room, a guest bathroom, and a panoramic terrace for alfresco dining or relaxing in the southern sun.
• A secluded primary suite (king bed; 180 x 200 cm) with a luxurious soaking tub.
On the garden/entry level:
• Two additional en-suite bedrooms (queen beds; 160 x 200 cm).
• A piano nook and billiards table offering a touch of refined leisure inside the entry.
The Guesthouse, or Gîte, sits just across a sun-drenched courtyard and pool area and includes:
• Two additional en-suite bedrooms (queen beds; 160 x 200 cm).
• A fully equipped "summer kitchen" with a roll-up door opening to the pool area.
• Shaded outdoor dining that seamlessly blends indoor-outdoor living.

Bedrooms & Linens:
All five bedrooms are en-suite and are individually climate-controlled for personalized comfort. Each is outfitted with:
• Traditional custom-made Italian linen sheets and bedding with intricate handwork.
• Pure down pillows, lightweight cotton blankets, and down duvets.
• Linens are professionally laundered and pressed to welcome you upon arrival.
• Custom Giza cotton waffle towels, bath mats, and bath rugs.

Poolside Calm
At the heart of the property lies a 4x10 meter (13x33 foot) pool, maintained with a hybrid chlorine and salt system that is gentle on the skin and has minimal chlorine odor. The maximum depth is 1.5 meters or about four feet. Stair entry is found at each end of the pool. Guests can enjoy:
• An outdoor solar shower for refreshing rinses.
• Eight adjustable lounge chairs with wind-resistant umbrellas and side tables.
• Colorful waffle pool towels for lounging in style.
** Safety note: Per French law, the pool includes an in-water alarm; instructions are provided onsite. The pool is not covered, nor is it heated which is typical in the region.

Design Details & Materials
The property is a celebration of French and European craftsmanship, featuring:
• Walls and facades built with massive pierre de Vers limestone blocks.
• Regional Anduze glazed terracotta pots.
• Furniture and décor sourced throughout France and Europe along with vintage and local antique treasures.
• As a specialist in luxury linens and home décor, the owner has curated the interior with thoughtful details and artisanal touches, elevating the experience of every room.

Local Flavor & Everyday Living
• Located just minutes from Intermarché and local markets for convenient shopping.
• Both kitchens are fully stocked with premium French cookware, kitchen tools and appliances, crockery, cutlery, glassware and linens.
• Indoor and outdoor dining spaces allow guests to prepare and enjoy meals made from the region’s renowned ingredients.

Outdoors & Walkability
• Olivette offers easy access to some of the region’s best outdoor experiences—right from your doorstep. It’s a 12-minute walk to Intermarché, the area's best grocery store, and just a 25-minute walk to the center of historic Uzès via a bike- and pedestrian-friendly road that branches off the main route.
• For evening strolls or longer hikes, simply turn left outside the house and you’ll find yourself heading straight into the countryside of fields and vineyards. The region is renowned for its outdoor lifestyle, with abundant opportunities for hiking, cycling, and kayaking amid Provence’s breathtaking natural beauty.

The Olivette Experience
• As the sun sets and the sky fades into soft watercolor tones, Olivette transforms into a sanctuary of light and stillness. The illuminated olive grove, stone walls, and glowing pool create a magical setting for evening conversations, shared meals, or a quiet glass of rosé.
• Whether you're exploring Roman ruins in Uzès, cooking in the summer kitchen, or reading by the pool under the olive trees, Olivette invites you to slow down, savor, and reconnect.

Additional Notes & Honest Insights:
• Enjoy fast, reliable fiber-optic Wi-Fi across the entire property, indoors and out.
• There is one large-screen TV, located in the main house on the upper level. In our experience, most days at Olivette are best spent outdoors under the sun or gathered around the table in the evening, feasting on the day's food finds, enjoying conversation, music, or a bottle of local wine. That said, the TV is available for quiet nights in or catching up on a favorite film.
• Privacy & Freedom: The estate is fully enclosed and private. Nude swimming? Totally fine. Smoking is permitted outside.
• Continual Improvements: We’re currently enhancing the landscaping and are always in the middle of an update. The pictures reflect the home as you will find it.
• Surroundings: Olivette borders Uzès’s zone artisanale (light industrial zone) and faces the zone agricole. The approach to the home may feel unexpected—don’t be surprised if your first view isn’t the postcard Provençal image. But once inside the gates, the warmth and beauty unfold.
• Noise & Nature: You may occasionally hear trucks passing nearby, especially on weekday mornings. The LaFarge rock yard behind the gîte can generate dust and light sound during work hours, but activity stops by mid-afternoon. Evenings and weekends are beautifully quiet. As in much of the countryside, expect some flies, mosquitoes, spiders, wasps, and the odd lizard or gecko.
• Language & Hospitality: A simple “Bonjour” and “Merci” go a long way. While not all locals speak English fluently, many in Uzès—especially those in tourism—do. Smile, make eye contact, and you’ll find people welcoming and kind.

We truly love Olivette, and we hope you will too. It’s a place of sunlight, serenity, and slow beauty—where Provençal tradition meets contemporary comfort in a setting made for meaningful moments.
